WHAT WE LEARN FROM ADVERSITY
Job 2

I. Background
   A. In Chapter 1 the question was " does adversity come to a Christian only because of sin ? "
   B. God made a deal with Satan to allow him to destroy anything he has but not touch him
   C. Instead of cursing - he praised his God
   D. Satan must get permission from God to attack his children

II. Job Attacked By Satan  2:1- 8
   A. He told God that if  pain was experienced by Job , he would curse God
   B. Satan believed that Job was only worried about his life ; hurt him and he would stop serving God
   C. God allows Satan to attack Job but he can not take his life
   D. God knows that can be faithful to God under the most extreme circumstances
   E. Satan causes burning , terribly painful boils over his entire body
   F. He was so disfigured , he did not look like himself
   G. Job's condition is so pitiful that he can only stay at the garbage dump
   H. He uses pieces of pottery to scrape his sores for relief
   I. He believed God was bringing this sorrow on him - there has been NO WORD from the Lord

III. Job Is Confronted By His Wife 2: 9
   A. Job had lost everything but his wife and a few friends
   B. Now his wife cries " curse God and die " - exactly what Satan wanted
   C. Sometimes those we love can give us bad advice ; the only one to fully trust is God

IV . Job's Three Friends 2:11-13
   A. At least they came to console and be with him
   B. They wept when they saw how pitiful he was
   C. Their advice and encouragement would ultimately make him feel worse
   D. Now there is NO ONE BUT GOD !!!

V. Three Lesson Learned 2:10
   A. Trials teach patience - Jam 5:11 ; Jam 1:2-3
   B. Trials teach us to put things in prospective
   C. Trials teach us to be persistent
