I. Greatness
   A. The World's definition is power , money , prestige , people following them
   B. God's definition is those that are great are servants and he that is humble ( least ) will be great ( Mk 10:43/ Lk 9:48 )
   C. There are several good churches ( congregations ) in the NT but few great ones
      i) Antioch was great due to Paul's mission trips and supporting Gentiles becoming Christians
      ii) Phillipi was great - Paul called it his " joy and crown " Phil 4:1
      iii) Ephesians was good but lost it by AD 90 when it had " lost its first love " Rev 2:4
      iv) Corinth had a hard time being good

II . Why The Delivered Jews Were Not A Great People - Num 14
   A. At Kadesh Barnea they had to decide whether they could take the promised land
      i) 12 spies surveyed the land for 40 days
      ii) 10 said the people were 10 feet tall and they would kill our children
      iii) 2 spies ( Joshua and Caleb ) said with God we can take the land
      iv ) because they were good NOT GREAT ( did not trust their God , they would wander 40 years ( one year for every day in the land ) and their children would be great and conquer the land
   B . Why they were not great
      i) they were afraid ; they learned that as slaves
      ii) it was easier to journey than to fight
      iii) they did not have enough faith

III. Attributes Of A Great Church
   A. Have great faith - Mt 8:10 ; Mt 15:28
   B. Have Great joy - Acts 8:8
   C. Have Great love by obeying the Great commandments - Mt 22:36
   D. Have Great boldness , confidence , enthusiasm for the Lord - II Cor. 7:4 ; 8:22 ; Col 4:13
   E. Reasons to be Great
      i) Great God - Tit 2:3
      ii) Great Shepherd - Heb 13:20
      iii) Great love of God - Eph 2:4
      iv) Great Reward - Mt 5 :12
