THE MASTER'S TOUCH

Mark 7:31-37

I.  Jesus healed the deaf man with a speech impediment.

      A.  The people begged Jesus to heal the man.

      B.  Jesus put his fingers into the man's ears, then spat

           and touched the man's tongue.

      C.  Then Jesus sighed, looked to heaven and said "Be opened."

      D.  The man's ears were opened and he could speak plainly. The people said "He has done all things well."

 II. There are other examples of Jesus' touch in the book of Mark.

      A.  Jesus took Simon's mother-in-law by the hand and her fever left her.  1:30-31

      B.  Jesus touched the leper and was immediately made clean. 1:40 ff

      C.  People with disease pushed forward to touch him.  3:10

      D.  The woman with a severe bleeding problem touched the hem

            of his garment and was healed.  5:27

      E.  Jesus took the hand of a 12 year old girl and raised her from the dead.   5:41

      F.  Parents brought their children to Jesus to be touched by him.  10:13

      G.  Blind Bartimaeus begged Jesus to touch him and heal him.  10:46

III. People need to be touched .

      A.  A mother touches her baby.

      B.  People in nursing facilities need touch.

      C.  A husband and wife touch.

      D.  A father and his teenager need to touch.

IV. Jesus gave five blessings with his touch.

      A.  Forgiveness - Be kind to one another forgiving one another,

           forgiving one another as in Christ God forgave you. Eph. 4:32

     B.  Identification - Jesus is our High Priest and identifies with our

           weakness; he is touched with our infirmities.  Heb. 4:14

     C.  Security - By his death he destroys Satan and frees us.  Heb. 2:14-15

     D.  Affirmation - We have an anchor for our soul; he is our High Priest.  Heb. 6:12

     E.  Cleanses us - The blood of Christ purifies our conscience from dead works.  Heb. 9:14
