RELATIONSHIPS IN THE CHURCH
I John 1:1-4
I. Background of the book of I John.
A. The author is the apostle John.
B. It was written about 85-95 A.D.
C. It was written in Ephesus .
D. The church at Ephesus was split and discouraged. I John 2:18-19
E. Gnosticism was the cause of the trouble.
II . Why do we need this lesson?
A. We need teaching on relationships.
B. Christianity is divided today. John 17
C. Gnosticism is eating away at people's faith.
D. Fear and guilt are taking away our fellowship and joy.
III. God has a plan for Christians .
A. We must start with a relationship with Jesus. I John 1:1-2
B. This leads to a relationship with other Christians. I John 1:3
C. Fellowship with God, Christ and other Christians brings joy. I John 1:4
IV. What can I learn from this?
A. I can only have true fellowship with my Christian family.
B. I need to work on my relationships because they take effort.
C. I cannot let Satan take away my joy.
