I. Nabal - The Foolish Farmer vs 1-3 , 10-11
A. He was rich , surly , and foolish
B. His servant said he was wicked and no one could talk to him
C. David provided protection for his family and all his goods
D. He refused to repay David for his protection and accused him of fighting his master Saul
II. David - The Furious Soldier vs. 4-6
A. He was angry when he found out the farmer refused to help him and his army
B. He took 400 soldiers to destroy Nabal and everything he owned
III. Abigail - The Faithful Wife
A. She was inteligent and beautiful - vs. 3
B. She was humble and gracious - vs. 23
C. She was courageous and interceded with David to try and save her husband's life - vs. 14-17
D. She was a Godly woman - vs. 28-31
IV. Abigail Meets David vs. 20 - 34
A. She told David
i. you are going to be the king
ii. my husband is an insignificant foolish man
iii. if you kill him , your conscience will bother all the days of your life
B. David's Response
i. Praise to God - you kept me from shedding blood
ii. after Nabal died ( at God's hand ) David took Abigail for his wife
V. Summary
A. If we live like Nabal - we will die like him
B. Abigail lived above her circumstances and served God - she was rewarded by God
C. David overreacted - after he repented God blessed him
