PARENTING - GOD'S LOAN TO US


 
I.  Children are a Heritage of and the fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3
      A.  God is the giver of children.
      B.  Eve said that Cain was given by the Lord.  Genesis 4:1

II.  Principles of child raising

      A.  Weigh each word carefully; they are heavier than you think.
           1.  Do not provoke children to wrath; bring them up in the Lord.
                Ephesians 6:4
           2.  Do not provoke your children lest they become discouraged.
                Colossians 3:21
           3.  We must be careful to encourage, not discourage with our words.
      B.  Watch your walk carefully; it's your greatest parenting tool.
           1.  Your children will be like their teacher.  Luke 6:40
           2.  Lessons lived are better than lessons spoken.
           3.  David was faithful to God but he did not live a good example for his sons Absalom and Solomon.
      C.  Win your wars fairly and you will live to fight again.
           1.  Children must be trained in the Lord with wisdom and love.
           2.  The hearts of children and parents must be turned toward each
                other by God.  Malachi 4:5-6
      D.  Families need peace.
           1.  Some parents say "no" to their children to keep them in line
                and to show that they are in charge.
           2.  Christian parents look for ways to say "yes" so that when they must say "no" the child understands that it is something important.
