CAN WE TRUST THE GOSPELS?

 I.  God warns about deserting the gospel.  Galatians 1:6-8
      A.  Paul was amazed that they had deserted the gospel.
      B. If anyone preaches another gospel, let him be accursed.

 II. The four gospels are different but compliment the telling of the same story.
      A.  The message is presented.
            1.  Matthew - the prophesied Messiah
            2.  Mark - Jesus the servant
            3.  Luke - the historical life of Jesus
            4.  John - God in flesh
       B.  Why can we trust the gospels?
            1.  All of the gospels are tied to eye witnesses.
            2.  All of the gospels were written in the first century.
            3.  All of the gospels were widely read and accepted by
                 early Christians.
       C.  Who is the audience of the gospels?
            1.  Matthew - Jews
            2.  Mark - Romans
            3.  Luke - Gentiles
            4.  John - A new generation of believers
      D.  What percentage of each book are the direct words of Jesus?
           1.  Matthew - 60%
           2.  Mark - 42%
           3.  Luke and John - 50%

III. Take Homes - Why my belief in the gospels matters.
     A.  The DaVinci Code is a direct attack on the Bible.
     B.  If early Christians deserted the Gospel, so can you.
     C.  When you have experienced the gospel your life will be changed.
